Read Guide →The NOCO Boost GB70 is a 2,000-amp portable lithium jump starter for larger 12-volt vehicles and equipment. NOCO rates it for gasoline engines up to 8.0 liters and diesel engines up to 6.0 liters, a range that reaches full-size pickups, larger SUVs, boats, RV support vehicles, and work equipment that exceeds the limits of compact jump packs. Its 56Wh internal battery and 4.18-pound weight provide more reserve than the GB40 while remaining portable.
Buy the GB70 when a typical 1,000-amp pack does not cover your engine or when you want more starting reserve for larger vehicles. It is powerful enough for many light- and medium-duty applications but is still limited to 12-volt lead-acid battery systems. Owners of very large commercial engines or 24-volt systems need equipment specifically rated for those applications.
| Peak starting current | 2,000 amps |
|---|---|
| Supported battery type | 12V lead-acid vehicle batteries |
| Internal battery | 56Wh lithium-ion |
| Engine rating | Up to 8.0L gasoline or 6.0L diesel |
| USB | 5V/2.1A maximum input and output |
| 12V XGC | 3A fast-charge input; 15A output |
| Flashlight | 400 lumens |
| Weight | 4.18 lb |
| Ingress protection | IP65 |
| Warranty | 1-year limited warranty |
The GB70’s engine limits make it a better fit for V8 gasoline vehicles, larger diesel passenger trucks, marine engines, and fleet vehicles than the smaller Boost models. Engine displacement is only one part of the starting load: cold temperature, oil viscosity, battery condition, connection quality, and repeated crank attempts can all change the energy required. A pack should be selected with margin rather than matched to an engine that exceeds the published limit.
The 56Wh battery can provide emergency USB power, while the 12-volt XGC connection supports faster recharging and compatible 12-volt accessories. The 400-lumen light is substantially brighter than the lamps on NOCO’s smaller standard Boost units and is useful for a dark engine bay or roadside signaling.
Normal operation includes spark-proof connection and reverse-polarity protection. Verify the correct jump points in the vehicle manual, connect with the vehicle off, and keep cables clear of belts, fans, and hot surfaces. The GB70 is not intended for high-voltage electric-vehicle traction batteries, 24-volt systems, or a visibly damaged vehicle battery.
Manual override is available when a battery is below the voltage needed for automatic detection. Because that mode disables safety detection, it carries additional risk and must never be used as a shortcut. Confirm polarity, inspect the battery, and follow NOCO’s manual exactly. Stop if the battery is frozen, swollen, leaking, or producing abnormal heat or odor.
The current package includes the GB70, integrated boost clamps, an XGC 12-volt male adapter, 12-volt female adapter, XGC extension cable, USB-C-to-USB-C cable, microfiber storage bag, and safety information. Recharge after use and check the charge periodically during storage. Keep it dry and protected from temperature extremes, and secure the pack so it cannot move around a truck box or cargo area.
The GB70 suits drivers, boat owners, RV users, and tradespeople whose 12-volt gasoline or diesel engines exceed the coverage of smaller jump starters. It is heavier and more expensive than a compact pack, so owners of small cars may prefer the GB40. This page matches NOCO model GB70 to Amazon ASIN B016UG6PWE.
